The Peace Region Songwriters Association has been around for over 10 years.
Our members represent all age groups and many different genres of music.
Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month Peace Region songwriters (this includes lyricists and/or composers, as well as poets wishing to cross over into music) meet to share songs, experiences, and skills in a Songwriters' Circle. We are mentors, students, teachers, collaborators, coaches, and friends.
We meet in a safe environment of trust and respect at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre, Dawson Creek, BC. (Summer 2008 venue - Under the Willow, corner of 103 Ave and 9th Street, Dawson Creek, BC)
Everyone is welcome, no matter what your age or your genre of music; whether you’re a published and recorded artist or you’re working on your first song. At Songwriters Circle everyone is welcome, everyone is equal.
Recently we found the business end of our meetings was growing to the point where there was hardly any time for music! So we took the step forward, incorporated as a non profit society and created a board to deal with the ‘business’ stuff, so the bi-monthly Songwriters Circles could go back to what they were intended to be; just songwriters - just music.
Along with this move we hope to stretch our boundaries a bit to become a truly regional association. The Peace Region of British Columbia is a very big area... and it abounds with amazing musical talent. Our future plans include linking songwriters in all the BC Peace together so they can access opportunities and network with other musicians and songwriters in their area.
This website is a step in that direction.
